Baby JOOD Dedication service
Baby JOOD’s first official outing was his dedication (christening) which took place in our little village church when he was 40 days old. Most of our friends and family based in the UK came to join us in the dedicating ceremony. It was nice to present JOOD to God surrounded by friends and family just like baby Jesus was presented in the Bible centuries ago.
During the ceremony, we promised to raise Baby JOOD in line with our Christian faith – Putting God first and obeying all his commandments. We also solicited for his Godparents, family and friends to assist us in this life long journey of spiritually, physical and moral development
After the dedication service, we had tea in the church, took pictures and chatted with other church member over cup of coffee. It was nice to be out and Baby JOOD was very cheerful with lots of people taking pictures of him and also with him. At least for one day he was a local church celebrity!
We continued the celebration at home where we partied in a typical Nigerian style. It was a nice way for Baby JOOD to officially step out and most importantly to be dedicated to God!
